DALTON, Ga. — President Donald Trump brings his midterm push to northwest Georgia on Friday afternoon, headlining a rally at Dalton Municipal Airport alongside the two Republicans at the top of the state ballot, with early voting already underway across Georgia.

Senate nominee Mike Collins and governor nominee Rick Jackson are both expected on stage, marking the first event where the two have campaigned side by side. Collins is trying to unseat Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff, while Jackson is matched against Keisha Lance Bottoms, a former mayor of Atlanta, in the race for governor.

For anyone planning to go: the rally is hosted by the Trump 47 Committee at 4483 Airport Road in Whitfield County. Gates open at 11:30 a.m., the program starts at 1:30 p.m., and the president is slated to speak at 3 p.m.

The stop follows a Trump rally in Clarksville, Tennessee, on Oct. 10. Georgia remains one of the few true battlegrounds on the national map, and the Ossoff seat is one of the contests that could decide which party controls the U.S. Senate next year.

Democrats are answering with events of their own. The Democratic Party of Georgia scheduled a news conference in Atlanta during the Dalton rally, and Ossoff and Bottoms, who held a joint rally in September, plan another together Saturday evening in Cobb County.

Collins enters the final weeks carrying baggage from Washington. The House Ethics Committee found reason to believe he used congressional resources for unauthorized purposes, a finding tied to allegations that his chief of staff used office resources to hire an intern who did not show up for work.
