Savannah, Ga. — Chatham County police have charged a Circle K clerk with felony theft after saying she collected cash from diesel buyers and then let them leave without paying the store.

Tiffany Jones, 25, was taken into custody Oct. 14, the Chatham County Police Department said. Detectives tied the pattern to the Circle K along the 5500 block of Highway 21 and said it ran from August into October.

They tallied more than 3,000 gallons of diesel leaving the pumps with no payment to the business, a hit they put above $20,000. Across 18 stops, an employee allegedly kept cash in the $100 to $500 range and skipped the register sale at the pump.

After the arrest, Jones was held at the Chatham County Detention Center. The Chatham County Police Department is running the case, and felony theft files in the county go to the district attorney who covers Chatham County.

Highway 21 carries steady truck traffic, so unpaid diesel stacks up fast when gallons leave without a store ticket. Investigators described a repeated cash-for-fuel arrangement rather than a one-time slip at a single shift.

Store managers along that corridor often rely on pump logs and camera clips when cash deals bypass the register, which is why detectives leaned on those records here. People with pump video, receipts or names tied to those Highway 21 stops can call the Chatham County Police Department. The district attorney who covers Chatham County will handle charging decisions once the investigative packet is ready, under the eastern superior court circuit that includes the county.
