SAVANNAH, Ga. — Savannah’s Black business community will gather at the Armstrong Center on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 3, as the Greater Savannah Black Chamber of Commerce celebrates a decade of its Black Business Gala. The program starts at 7 p.m.

This year the gala carries the theme Black & Blues, a nod to the chamber’s decade of work to promote Black businesses, open doors for owners, link them with one another and strengthen the economy of the greater Savannah area.

The formal evening opens with a red carpet reception and social hour, followed by dinner, live entertainment and special recognitions. The night closes with an awards presentation for standout Black entrepreneurs and community leaders from across the region.

Chamber president Moncello Stewart said that over the past 10 years the group has pushed economic growth by helping Black, minority and women business owners through training, marketing help, wider visibility, partnerships and advocacy at the statehouse and city hall. He said the gala is meant to bring the city’s varied business community together to celebrate that work.

The chamber offers members and local entrepreneurs education programs, networking, development support and community outreach, with a goal of connecting owners to the resources they need to grow.

The gala is open to the public. Tickets are on sale now through the chamber, and sponsorships are also available online for businesses that want to back the event. The chamber is based in Savannah and works with owners across the wider metro area, a region where it says Black-owned firms add to the local economy through their ideas and growth.
