Nicholas Sparks will celebrate the release of his new novel, “Remain: A Supernatural Love Story,” on October 14, 2025, at the Savannah Book Festival. The event will take place at the historic Trustees Theater in Savannah, Georgia, starting at 6 PM.

“Remain” marks Sparks’s twenty-fifth novel and is particularly notable as it is a collaboration with acclaimed director M. Night Shyamalan. This partnership is unique, as it represents Sparks’s first creative venture with a film director from the inception of a story, though he has previously collaborated with his brother on a memoir.

The narrative of “Remain” revolves around Tate Donovan, a New York architect who travels to Cape Cod to design a summer home for his best friend while grappling with personal loss and depression. Donovan’s backstory includes the legacy of his late sister, who possessed a gift for “seeing dead people,” a trait that appears to run in their family. While in Cape Cod, Donovan encounters Wren, a character whose past has the potential to jeopardize their developing relationship.

This novel intertwines Sparks’s signature themes of romance, buried secrets, and heartbreak with Shyamalan’s renowned elements of suspense and unexpected plot twists. In 2010, Sparks delved into supernatural themes in his novel “Safe Haven,” which was partially inspired by Shyamalan’s film “The Sixth Sense.”

The collaboration between Sparks and Shyamalan came to fruition in 2023 through their Hollywood representatives, leading to a year-long partnership to craft the story. Additionally, Shyamalan is set to direct the film adaptation of “Remain,” which is anticipated to premiere in 2026 and will feature actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor in leading roles.

Sparks has expressed enjoyment in working with Shyamalan and remains open to exploring future collaborations. The Savannah Book Festival will host a conversation during the event moderated by Kristy Woodson Harvey, a bestselling author from North Carolina.

Tickets for the festival event are priced at $60. This includes entry to the event, a signed copy of “Remain,” and a professional photo with Sparks. Discounted tickets are available for military members and students at a price of $54. Couples can purchase a ticket for $90, which includes admission for two and one signed copy of the novel. Tickets can be acquired through the SCAD Box Office at (912) 525-5050 or online at tickets.scadboxoffice.com.

The Savannah Book Festival is scheduled to celebrate its 19th annual event from February 5-8, 2026. The festival will feature a diverse lineup of authors and events, offering attendees a chance to engage with both established and emerging literary voices.
