Also on that day, the First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church will give away 1,000 free book bags during its Gospel on the Greens Back to School Block Party at Forsyth Park starting at 6 p.m.
The Savannah Police Department is also organizing its annual Back-to-School Bash on August 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., providing food, entertainment, and essential school supplies for students. Concurrently, Uncut Barber Academy will offer free back-to-school haircuts that day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is required to register for this service by August 1.
