Man Gets Federal Prison for Scissors Robbery of Savannah CBD Shop

SAVANNAH, Ga. — A 34-year-old Atlanta man is headed to federal prison for over seven years after he used a pair of scissors to hold up a CBD shop along West Victory Drive in Savannah.

A federal judge on Thursday gave Corey Corley 93 months, plus three years on supervised release once he gets out. He had admitted to a federal robbery count, interference with commerce by robbery. He must also repay $1,251.56. The federal system has no parole.

The robbery happened in October 2025. Court records show Corley went into the store, picked up scissors to use as a weapon, threatened an employee and told the worker to get down on the floor. He then loaded a duffel bag with goods from the display cases and ran.

Savannah Police Department officers were already on their way after a 911 call and saw him leaving. Corley tried to toss the bag as officers chased him on foot, but he was caught, and police found merchandise from the shop inside.

Because the charge was a federal one, the case was handled in federal court rather than in a state courtroom. Details of the holdup came from court documents and from testimony in the case, which described how the worker was threatened before being ordered to the ground.

The FBI and the Savannah Police Department investigated the case. It was prosecuted by the Southern District of Georgia U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the sentence came from R. Stan Baker, the chief federal judge for the district. U.S. Attorney Meg Heap said the quick police response led to the arrest and that the office is focused on protecting local businesses and their workers from violent crime.
