The weekend promises to foster both educational and health opportunities for local families.
Savannah will host the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Giveback Weekend, organized by Savannah native Flau’jae Johnson, who is recognized for her accomplishments as an LSU basketball champion, rapper, and youth advocate. The event is scheduled for July 25 to July 26, 2025, at Enmarket Arena, located at 620 Stiles Ave., Savannah, Georgia 31415. This year’s format has shifted from a single-day festival to a broader weekend event, expanding the variety of activities offered over the two days.
The Back-to-School Giveback Weekend will feature a range of exciting activities for attendees, including musical performances, a live DJ, bounce houses, and face painting for children. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to receive free food, backpacks, uniforms, and shoes, all intended to support students as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
The weekend’s events will begin on Friday, July 25, with activities running from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Notably, the SJ/C Mobile Mammography Unit will also be present, providing screening mammograms for women who are uninsured or underinsured and meet specific criteria outlined by the Telfair Mammography Fund. The following day, Saturday, July 26, the event will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A significant component of the weekend is the presentation of a donation check to St. Joseph’s/Candler (SJ/C) by Flau’jae Johnson in partnership with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. This initiative aims to improve access to healthcare in underserved communities by offering early detection tools. The event is designed to eliminate health barriers and promote a supportive environment for all participants.
Registration for the mobile mammogram service can be completed by calling 912-819-6140 or visiting the SJ/C health website. This aspect of the event underscores the holistic approach being taken, which is not solely focused on educational supplies but also on the health and well-being of the community.
Flau’jae Johnson has emphasized the event’s purpose as one of giving back, highlighting the importance of support, love, and energy in nurturing the future leaders of Savannah. Recognizing her personal connection to the city, she has expressed a desire for every child to feel valued and heard.
The Back-to-School Giveback Weekend is planned in collaboration with notable partners, including Powerade, Puma, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, and St. Joseph’s/Candler, all contributing to the event’s success and common mission to invest in the youth and families of Savannah.
This event is free and open to the public, inviting families to join in an atmosphere of celebration and community spirit while preparing students for a successful school year ahead. Through this initiative, Flau’jae Johnson aims to foster a sense of community and support for Savannah’s future generations.
