As the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System prepares for the new school year starting August 4, various organizations in Savannah are gearing up for a range of back-to-school events. Families are encouraged to complete supply lists and participate in community activities that promise to provide essential resources such as school supplies, food, and entertainment. From church festivals to health drives, Savannah is fostering community involvement to ensure students are equipped for success in the upcoming school year.
Savannah is preparing for the back-to-school season as the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) begins its new school year on August 4. Private schools in the area are also set to open their doors in the coming weeks.
As families get ready for the school year, they are encouraged to gather items from their children’s supply lists. To aid in this preparation, several events are scheduled throughout the city, providing resources and fun activities for students and their families.
The SCCPSS will offer two in-person events for parents seeking registration assistance: on July 16 at Southwest Middle School and on July 24 at the Family and Student Services Center, both from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Translators will be available during these events, and no appointments are necessary. It is important to note that returning students do not need to register again, as online registration is available at sccpss.com.
As the start of the school year approaches, community involvement remains a vital component in ensuring that students have the supplies they need for success. Local organizations and churches are actively working to provide resources and opportunities for the families of Savannah.
