Savannah will host LSU women’s basketball star Flau’jae Johnson for a two-day Back to School Giveback Weekend at Enmarket Arena, aimed at uplifting local youth with essential school supplies. The event features free school supplies, no-cost mammogram screenings, live music, food, and activities for children. Johnson’s dedication to community service highlights her commitment to empowering local families through this festival.
Savannah will welcome LSU women’s basketball star Flau’jae Johnson for a two-day Back to School Giveback Weekend on July 25 and July 26 at Enmarket Arena. This event aims to uplift local youth by providing essential school supplies and expanding access to health services.
The Giveback Weekend is designed as a community-focused initiative, ensuring that students return to school equipped with necessary materials. Attendees will have access to free school supplies, including backpacks, uniforms, and shoes, distributed during the festival on July 26.
On July 25, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., the event also features no-cost mammogram screenings operated by the St. Joseph’s/Candler Mobile Mammography Unit, with support from the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. This service is targeted at women who are uninsured or underinsured, provided they meet qualifications set out by the Telfair Mammography Fund. Interested individuals must register in advance for the mammogram screenings by calling 912-819-6140 or visiting the St. Joseph’s/Candler website.
The Back to School Giveback Festival on July 26 will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public. This family-friendly event promises a vibrant atmosphere with live music, free food, bounce houses, and face painting for children. In addition, there will be a significant check presentation by Flau’jae Johnson and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to St. Joseph’s/Candler during the event.
