Savannah – The Savannah Alumnae Chapter (SAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated will host the Delta Authors on Tour (DAOT) on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Savannah Technical College, located at 5717 White Bluff Road. This event, which showcases literary talent in the Southern Region of the United States, will be free for all attendees.

Themed “Elevating Authors, Southern Style,” the DAOT aims to celebrate and promote the work of various authors, highlighting genres such as romance, poetry, self-help, and children’s literature. The event will not only feature book signings and discussions but also aims to strengthen community ties through literacy programs.

Elaine Shavers Campbell, the president of SAC, expressed enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its focus on supporting authors and investing in literacy initiatives within the community. This aligns with the broader goals of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, which seeks to empower diverse voices in the literary world.

Delta Authors on Tour is a key initiative of the Sorority’s National Arts and Letters Commission. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the DAOT, which celebrates African American literature and highlights the creative efforts of its members. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase books from these featured authors during the event using cash or credit cards. The DAOT will also include engaging activities such as readings and discussions centered around the authors’ works, allowing for a deeper connection between the authors and their audience.

Registration for this event can be completed online at the official SAC website, dstsavalum.com. This event stands as a testament to the SAC’s commitment to fostering a rich literary culture while promoting authors within the region.

As the DAOT celebrates its decade-long impact, the Savannah Alumnae Chapter is excited to bring this dynamic literary event to the community, further contributing to the promotion of reading and literacy in a supportive environment.
