Burke is bracing for an even steeper climb in demand, with predictions suggesting an increase of at least 20% in 2024-2025. This forecast follows double-digit increases from the previous year, signaling that the struggle is far from over for many families.

Food insecurity is having a significant impact on a large number of people. In 2023 alone, there were 47.4 million individuals in the United States facing food insecurity. This translates to one in seven individuals and one in five children who are unsure where their next meal will come from. According to reports, rural counties account for 62% of all U.S. counties but represent an alarming 90% of counties with high food insecurity rates. How to Participate

Participants have the option to join either in person or virtually, which emphasizes the urgency of addressing the highest demand for food assistance since the COVID-19 pandemic. Each walker is instrumental in providing 90 meals, while runners contribute to 120 meals for those in need.

Notably, the Hunger Walk/Run has made an impact over the past four decades, raising more than $15.5 million and funding over 46 million meals for vulnerable populations.
