Savannah is set to host the third annual Heritage Fire event on June 29, 2025, bringing together local chefs for a unique culinary experience that focuses on live fire cooking. This year’s event will take place at the Pit and Paddock Grounds near the Westin Savannah Harbor, adding excitement to the local food scene.
Chef Derick Wade, a Charleston-based culinary professional with four years of experience in Savannah, will participate in the event for the third time. Wade previously allowed his colleague Dan to lead last year’s Heritage Fire, as he served as the culinary director for The Darling. This year, he aims to showcase innovative dishes that highlight the dynamic nature of live fire cooking, moving beyond traditional food and wine events.
Chef Wade plans to present smoked beef cheek tostadas, accompanied by a Georgia peach and pineapple salsa, with a Peruvian green sauce as an additional feature at the event. In a bold twist, he will introduce his newly developed hot sauce, “Peach Poltergeist,” created using Georgia peaches and ghost peppers. This combination of flavors aims to engage attendees in a memorable gastronomic experience.
