Savannah, Georgia – HunterMaclean, a prominent business law firm with offices in Savannah and St. Simons Island, has announced the addition of two distinguished attorneys, Matt Gobel and Zachary B. Harris, as part of its strategic expansion in the corporate and real estate sectors.

Effective May 21, 2025, Matt Gobel has joined the firm’s Corporate Practice Group, bringing with him extensive expertise in complex corporate transactions. His specialties include mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, leveraged buyouts, divestitures, minority equity investments, and corporate restructurings. Gobel spent almost seven years at Jones Day, where he worked in the corporate group and advised clients on significant domestic and cross-border transactions. Notable clients during his tenure included industry leaders such as Koch, Inc., Corpay, GE Aerospace, Procter & Gamble, Milliken & Company, and Newell Brands.

Hailing from Savannah, Gobel holds a B.A. in History and Political Science and a J.D. from the University of Georgia, both with honors. He was active in law school, serving as an Articles Editor for the Georgia Law Review, and he continues to engage with students by presenting on corporate law topics. His commitment to community service is demonstrated through his active pro bono work, where he has recently assisted immigrants seeking asylum in the United States. Outside of his professional life, he and his wife are involved with the Independent Presbyterian Church.

Meanwhile, Zachary B. Harris rejoined HunterMaclean’s Real Estate Group on April 16, 2025, bringing considerable experience in commercial real estate transactions, development projects, commercial leasing, landlord-tenant disputes, community associations, land use and zoning, and government affairs. Prior to his return, Harris served as in-house counsel for the Jekyll Island Authority, where he managed commercial leasing portfolios and procurement matters.

Harris is a committed member of the community, actively participating on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. He holds the position of a committee member on the Georgia Coastal Marshlands Protection Committee and is involved in various civic committees. His leadership capabilities are further highlighted by his graduation from the Leadership Glynn program. Harris earned a B.A. in Political Science and Religion from Emory University and a J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law. He advocates for local organizations, including the Glynn County Bar Association and the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce.

The additions of Gobel and Harris to HunterMaclean mark a significant step in the firm’s growth strategy, especially in the areas of corporate and real estate law. The firm, based in Savannah and St. Simons Island, continues to strengthen its position as a leading legal service provider in these vital sectors. With these new hires, HunterMaclean aims to enhance its ability to serve clients more effectively while catering to the robust demands of the modern business landscape.

This strategic expansion reflects HunterMaclean’s commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and meeting the diverse needs of its clientele in an evolving marketplace.
