Savannah kicked off its 3rd Annual Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival on May 31, 2025, marking the beginning of a month-long celebration dedicated to the history, freedom, and resilience of the African American community. The festival commenced with the Dreams Fulfilled Scholarship Gala, and will continue until June 21, 2025, featuring a myriad of events designed to engage the community and showcase local artistry.
The festival is presented by The Eichholz Law Firm and hosted by Chosen For The Arts, with a commitment to honoring Juneteenth through educational and cultural activities. Scheduled events within the month include Lunch and Learns on June 10 and June 17 at the Beach Institute, focusing on community education and empowerment.
Highlighting the festival’s festive atmosphere, a Fireworks Show is planned for June 19 at Daffin Park. The celebration will begin at 5 p.m., concluding with a fireworks display at sundown. This event is sponsored by the City of Savannah in collaboration with the Savannah Fire Department, promising a spectacular visual tribute to freedom and culture.
As the festival approaches its conclusion, the Final Festival Day will take place on June 21 at Forsyth Park, starting at 4 p.m. This vibrant gathering will feature food trucks, a range of vendors, live music, and local artists showcasing their creations. The festival’s events are designed to be free and family-friendly, making them accessible for attendees of all ages.
In addition to the overarching festival, the Savannah African Art Museum will also host its fifth annual Juneteenth celebration on June 14. This day will feature activities from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., emphasizing storytelling and encouraging community participation. The museum will offer free self-guided tours, genealogy resources, and an art project dedicated to highlighting ancestry. This complements the festival’s goal of promoting cultural awareness and connection.
Moreover, the Savannah Wine Institute has announced a series of wine, food, and cultural experiences specifically for Juneteenth 2025. These planned activities are expected to enrich the overall celebration by incorporating local flavors and experiences, contributing to a deeper understanding of the significance of Juneteenth.
The festival is a collaborative effort involving local nonprofits and various sponsors, including Genesis, AT&T, and Gulfstream. The goal is to foster community engagement and support local artists while providing a platform to celebrate the heritage and legacy behind Juneteenth.
