Savannah – The Kimpton Brice Hotel has welcomed a new culinary chapter with the appointment of Executive Chef Jacob Barlow, who aims to enhance the dining experience at the hotel’s Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar. The restaurant has launched a completely reimagined menu that seeks to encapsulate Savannah’s rich culinary identity, blending Southern tradition with global flavors.
Chef Barlow, who is Le Cordon Bleu-trained and brings nearly 20 years of experience in the Southeast’s culinary scene, is committed to creating dishes that resonate with both locals and travelers. His new menu features innovative breakfast selections, including the increasingly popular Lowcountry Crab Cake Benedict, exemplifying a Southern twist on a classic favorite. The dinner menu has also seen exciting new additions, such as hand-tossed pizzas and delectable pizza rolls generously filled with pepperoni and house-made sauce.
In an effort to cater to diverse dietary preferences, the menu has been expanded to include more vegan and gluten-free options, ensuring everyone has a delicious choice. Furthermore, all desserts are crafted in-house from scratch, reflecting Barlow’s dedication to quality and flavor.
Barlow emphasizes inclusivity in his culinary approach, drawing inspiration from his mother’s legacy of comfort food and nurturing meals central to family gatherings. This commitment to comfort food is designed to create a warm and welcoming environment within the restaurant.
The Kimpton Brice Hotel, located next to Washington Square, offers guests a blend of Southern charm and modern comforts, featuring 145 guest rooms, a serene Secret Garden courtyard, an outdoor pool, and nearly 6,000 square feet of event space ideal for various occasions. The hotel recently underwent significant renovations, starting in August 2022, which marked its first major remodel since its inception in 2014. The refurbishment included upgrades to the lobby, public areas, and the dining space, fostering a more inviting atmosphere for guests.
The refreshed Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar is now positioned as a prominent dining destination within the hotel, and the restaurant’s operational hours have been extended to accommodate guests, open daily for dinner service from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations for the new menu can easily be made through OpenTable, streamlining the dining experience for patrons.
In addition to Chef Barlow’s appointment, Executive Chef JohnAngelo Cole has joined the culinary team to further enhance the restaurant’s offerings. Cole is expected to oversee the culinary programs at Pacci and actively engage with the local community. His plans feature a commitment to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and incorporating a mix of Italian recipes influenced by his Southern heritage.
The redevelopment of Pacci also introduced new furniture and design elements, creating a fresh ambiance that encourages social interaction. The hotel is planning live music events in the Secret Garden, adding yet another dimension to the culinary experience. This focus on community engagement and a commitment to quality dining make The Kimpton Brice Hotel a vital addition to Savannah’s vibrant restaurant scene.
