Rincon, Georgia

MEDLOG, a prominent global provider of logistics and supply chain solutions, has inaugurated a new cold storage facility in Rincon, Georgia, on September 10, 2025. This facility significantly enhances the cold chain capacity vital for the export of protein products, catering to both local and nationwide demand.

Strategically located approximately 18 miles from the Port of Savannah’s Garden City Terminal, the new facility spans nearly 291,000 square feet and is equipped with 42 loading docks and 20,000 freezer/cooler pallet positions. It boasts the capability to perform up to 3 million pounds of protein blast freezing daily, featuring what is now recognized as the largest blast room in the United States.

Another unique aspect of this facility is its direct rail siding capacity, accommodating 18 rail cars. This feature opens new market opportunities in the Midwest for frozen beef and pork. Additionally, the facility utilizes advanced refrigeration technology that enables it to manage fresh produce imports, covering items such as citrus, avocados, grapes, and blueberries.

The new facility will also have a positive economic impact, creating over 100 new jobs in the area and generating approximately $65 million for the state of Georgia. This aligns with ongoing investment efforts in the region, further bolstered by the Georgia Ports Authority’s commitment of $4.2 billion towards growth and facility operations.

With the recent opening of MEDLOG’s cold storage facility, the Savannah region now boasts nearly 2.4 million square feet of near-port cold storage space distributed across a dozen facilities. This expansion enhances the region’s reputation as a vital hub for refrigerated logistics.

The Port of Savannah itself is notable for its capacity to power 3,800 refrigerated containers simultaneously, which marks the highest capacity of any port in the U.S. In addition, on-port inspections by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, FDA, and Customs are facilitated in a temperature-controlled environment, further reducing costs and optimizing the handling of perishables and frozen commodities.

The ceremonial ribbon-cutting event featured key figures such as Griff Lynch, President and CEO of the Georgia Ports, and Giuseppe Prudente, Chairman of MEDLOG. The event emphasized MEDLOG’s commitment to building a robust logistics ecosystem that strengthens U.S. exporters’ ability to compete globally.

This new facility symbolizes a significant step in advancing the cold chain logistics sector, addressing the increasing demand for frozen and perishable goods both domestically and abroad. MEDLOG aims to be at the forefront of this rapidly evolving market, enhancing efficiency and capacity in an essential area of the supply chain.
