Peter Hoffman has been named the 111th president of the Rotary Club of Savannah, succeeding in a role that emphasizes community service in education, health, and infrastructure. The formal installation ceremony took place at The DeSoto, where new club officers were also appointed. Hoffman’s extensive military background and commitment to local initiatives are expected to enhance the club’s mission. Peter Hoffman has been officially named the 111th president of the Rotary Club of Savannah, marking a significant moment for the organization that works tirelessly on community initiatives focused on education, infrastructure, health, and equity in the region.
The formal ceremony took place on June 30 at The DeSoto during the club’s weekly luncheon, where fellow club members gathered to celebrate the change in leadership. Alongside Hoffman’s installation, new club officers and board members for the upcoming years were also appointed, ensuring the continuation of the club’s mission and projects.
Hoffman, a retired U.S. Army colonel, brings over 30 years of military experience to his new role. His distinguished career includes various command, staff, and diplomatic responsibilities. Most recently, he served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Savannah Technical College before retiring in 2021. His background reflects a strong focus on community service and education, key areas that align with the Rotary Club’s priorities.
During the ceremony, Anita Hagin was named Secretary and Treasurer-Elect, and Robert Grant was appointed as Sergeant-at-Arms-Elect. This new leadership team aims to strengthen the club’s commitment to serving the community through various civic service projects. The club also installed its 2025-2026 board of directors, comprising dedicated members including Steve Chick, Dale Critz Jr., Joel Goodman, and others who are poised to guide the club’s initiatives moving forward.
In addition to his role at the Rotary Club, Hoffman is actively serving on the boards of Savannah Technical College, the Savannah Council on World Affairs, and the German Friendly Society of Savannah, demonstrating his commitment to enhancing the local community through various platforms. His previous board roles reflect a diverse range of interests, having worked with organizations such as the Small Business Assistance Corporation and the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, among others.
Hoffman’s academic achievements include a Master of Public Administration from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from North Georgia College. His education is complemented by extensive training in Russian language and geopolitical affairs, adding a valuable perspective to his leadership roles.
Founded in 1914, the Rotary Club of Savannah has a rich history of community involvement and service. With a membership of 220, the club actively engages in civic services and community improvement projects aimed at making a positive impact within the region. The club prides itself on its commitment to addressing critical issues facing the Savannah area and aims to foster collaboration among its members to achieve meaningful change.
