Savannah Welcomes Hot Eye Cocktail Bar This Weekend

The Hot Eye, a new subterranean cocktail bar, is set to open its doors this Saturday, October 11, in the basement of the Municipal Grand hotel, located on Broughton Street, Savannah. This highly anticipated venue aims to offer a unique cocktail experience in an intimate atmosphere.

About the Venue

Municipal Grand, a boutique hotel, made its debut in July of this year. The cocktail bar is designed to be a low-lit lounge, creating a cozy and inviting environment for guests. The bar program will be spearheaded by head bartender Alexis Cooper, who previously worked at Edgar’s Proof & Provision at the DeSoto Savannah.

Cocktail Offerings

Patrons can expect cocktail prices to range from $12 to $17. The menu will feature a variety of drinks, including highballs and a unique creation called the Crushed Vice, which is a Tequila Mai Tai variation made with corn and pasilla chiles.

Bar Design

The bar’s interior is crafted by AAmp Studio, the same design team responsible for the hotel’s aesthetic and previous linked projects with Death & Co. The design will showcase wine-red walls, banquettes, smoky mirrors, walnut wood, and black tiles, marking a distinct departure from the bright, jewel-toned lobby of the hotel.

Access and Amenities

Access to the Hot Eye is through an alleyway at 125 E. Congress Lane. Additionally, it shares non-gendered bathrooms with the lobby bar of the Municipal Grand. The atmosphere in the Hot Eye is focused on communal engagement, incorporating elements of original 1960s bank vault architecture.

Unique Offers

Guests can also take advantage of a special offer that allows them to add an impromptu stay in the hotel at a discounted rate. Furthermore, hotel visitors might find a hidden key in one of the hotel’s 44 rooms, granting a complimentary round of drinks at the Hot Eye.

Operational Details

The bar will operate Thursday through Sunday, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., and it can accommodate 50 patrons on a first-come, first-served basis, without any reservations or waitlists.

Community Focus

The Hot Eye aims to serve the Savannah community, which includes the SCAD community and industry friends. This venture is a part of the broader project by Midnight Auteur, a hospitality firm founded by Alex Day, Ryan Diggins, and David Kaplan, marking their first hotel project.

As the Hot Eye prepares to open, excitement is building among locals and visitors alike, eager to experience what promises to be a vibrant and original addition to Savannah’s nightlife scene.
