News Summary

Savannah is set to kick off its 100 Days of Summer initiative with a free pool party on May 23, 2025, at Daffin Park Pool. The event includes music, games, food, and giveaways, aiming to provide positive summer activities for local youth. This program is a collaboration between various city departments to enhance youth engagement through summer camps, sports leagues, and community-focused events. Notably, the evening concludes with a screening of Inside Out 2 at Forest Hills Park.

Savannah is gearing up for summer with the launch of its exciting program, 100 Days of Summer, starting with a free pool party. The kickoff event is scheduled for Friday, May 23, 2025, at Daffin Park Pool, located at 1301 E. Victory Dr., and will commence at 3 PM.

The free Summer Pool Party aims to provide Savannah’s youth with engaging and positive alternatives during the summer months. Attendees can expect entertainment including music by E-93’s DJ, along with food, drinks, games, and giveaways, making it a well-rounded community event.

The 100 Days of Summer initiative is a collaborative effort among several city departments, including Community Services, the Savannah Police Department, and the Savannah Fire Department. Its objective is to create a supportive environment for the youth of Savannah, allowing them to participate in various developmental activities throughout the summer.

Community Services Programming

The programming introduced by Community Services during the summer features notable offerings such as:

  • Summer Youth Employment and Violence Intervention Program, aimed at helping youth gain work experience while addressing important social issues.
  • Summer visual and performing arts camps, providing children an opportunity to explore their creativity and artistic talents.
  • Summer sports leagues, designed to encourage physical activity and teamwork among participants.

Evening Movie Screenings

On the same day as the pool party, the Sundown Cinema series will present the movie Inside Out 2 at Forest Hills Park. The screening is set for 7:30 PM and was originally scheduled for May 16 but was postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Special Programs and Workshops

Throughout the summer, additional enriching programs will also be hosted. The Savannah Fire Department will conduct Camp Ignite, a free all-girls camp taking place in July. This camp is dedicated to introducing participants to careers in the fire service and aims to inspire future female leaders in the community.

Moreover, the Savannah Police Department has lined up several activities throughout June. These include various Juneteenth events, exciting shows with Magic Marc, and the Citizens Police Academy, all designed to engage the community and build relationships between city officials and local residents.
