On Wednesday night, chaos struck traffic just north of 49th Street and Skidaway Road when a crash forced all traffic in that area to come to a halt. Savannah Police promptly closed off the roads around Shell Road and Dasher Street to ensure safety and manage the situation. Thankfully, the road opened back up to traffic at 11:52 p.m., but not without leaving drivers feeling a bit frazzled.

The day started off just as hectic as the night ended, with an overturned vehicle creating major traffic troubles at the intersection of Skidaway Road and Victory Drive. Early Wednesday morning, this mishap brought southbound Skidaway Road to a screeching halt at Victory Drive. Although the eastbound turn lane remained open, the remaining road closures still led to quite a mess on the streets.
To make matters worse, westbound Victory Drive was squeezed down to just one lane – a nightmare for any commuter trying to hurry to work. As always in these situations, officials advised everyone to drive cautiously and consider alternate routes to avoid getting caught in the backups.
If you thought the troubles ended there, think again! A separate incident involving four to five vehicles unfolded on Savannah Highway near Carolina Bay. While the accidents resulted in some minor injuries, it still caused quite the jam for folks trying to get through the area.
In light of this accident, Savannah Police took quick action by diverting all northbound traffic on Savannah Highway to Bees Ferry Road.
