Tesla Drivers Rank Worst in Georgia and the U.S.

News Summary

A recent study by LendingTree reveals Tesla drivers have the highest incident rates in Georgia, tallying 36.94 incidents per 1,000 drivers. While Georgia’s overall driving incidents are slightly below the national average at 34.69 per 1,000, Atlanta stands out as the third-worst U.S. city for driving. The report highlights that Tesla’s reputation could be tarnished, with accidents and driving infractions raising concerns for drivers statewide. This calls for greater awareness and safer driving habits among all Georgia motorists.

Georgia Drivers Beware: Tesla Tops the Worst Drivers List!

In a fascinating new study, the spotlight is on Georgia and its drivers. An analysis conducted by LendingTree has revealed that Tesla, the sleek electric vehicle brand, is steering its way to the dubious title of having the worst drivers in both Georgia and across the United States! Buckle up as we dive into the numbers!

The Numbers Don’t Lie!

Between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, drivers behind the wheel of Teslas found themselves in a whopping 36.94 incidents per 1,000 drivers. Yes, that includes everything from accidents to DUIs and speeding tickets! Prior to this, from November 14, 2022, to November 14, 2023, Tesla also ranked a close second worst with 31.13 incidents per 1,000 drivers.

In the Peach State, the statistics also raised some eyebrows. Georgia reported 34.69 incidents per 1,000 drivers. While this is just under the national average, it still paints a troubling picture for Tesla’s driving reputation!

High Impact, High Danger

Digging deeper, it’s alarming to find that among these incidents, Tesla drivers recorded an actual accident rate of 26.67 accidents per 1,000 drivers. Comparatively, the other brands didn’t fare too well either. The top contenders with poor driving records included:

  • Ram: 33.92 incidents per 1,000
  • Subaru: 32.85 incidents per 1,000
  • Audi: 32.23 incidents per 1,000
  • Mazda: 31.86 incidents per 1,000

Driving Dangers in Atlanta

Shifting our focus to Georgia’s capital, Atlanta doesn’t escape the scrutiny either. A separate study has labeled it as the third-worst city for driving in the entire U.S., falling closely behind Miami and Portland, Oregon. The reasons? High motor vehicle death rates and a notorious level of congestion that has motorists pulling their hair out!

To put things in perspective, Atlanta experiences about 3.86 accidents per 1,000 drivers. Adding a grim twist, the city has recorded 20.6 motor vehicle deaths per 100,000 residents alongside an average travel time of 2.04 minutes per mile. Doesn’t exactly sound like a smooth ride!

Comparing Cities: A Mixed Bag

While Atlanta struggles, it’s interesting to note that Detroit, Michigan, has earned the title of the best city for drivers. In another twist, Boston gets the not-so-flattering title of worst city for winter driving, while Bakersfield, California, shines as the best for dealing with those frosty roads.

Furthermore, in a study focused on bad drivers, Atlanta was ranked as the 16th worst city in the nation. Factors included fatal crashes and alarming incidents involving drunk driving. Trouble brews in the city, with over 15 fatalities recorded in car crashes per 100,000 residents, primarily tied to speeding and DUI-related mishaps.

What Does This Mean for Drivers?

As driving in Georgia continues to raise eyebrows, these numbers could serve as a wake-up call for both Tesla enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike. It hints at the need for increased awareness and safer driving habits across the board. Even if you’re behind the wheel of a shiny new electric car, remember, it’s not just about the vehicle, but how you drive it!

As the year progresses, all eyes will be on how drivers take these findings to heart. It’s time to buckle up, drive safely, and aim for that roadworthy title—together!
