The newly remodeled Walmart Supercenter in Savannah showcases a beautiful mural celebrating the local culture.
Walmart has completed a 16-week remodel of its Supercenter in Savannah, improving the shopping experience with enhancements like a relocated apparel department and a custom mural by Trudy Tran. The re-grand opening showcased these updates, along with Walmart’s commitment to community support through grants. Plans for further renovations in the area demonstrate Walmart’s ongoing investment in local retail.
Walmart has completed a major remodel of its Supercenter located at 14030 Abercorn St. in Savannah, enhancing the store’s overall shopping experience. The remodel, which spanned 16 weeks, culminated in a re-grand opening ceremony designed to showcase the updates to both local residents and shoppers.
The renovation of the 117,804 square-foot Supercenter includes several significant changes aimed at improving customer convenience. One of the most notable updates is the relocation of the apparel department to the front of the store, making it more accessible to shoppers. Additionally, the store has introduced lower-profile racks and white fixtures that contribute to a more modern shopping environment. A custom mural created by Georgia-based multidisciplinary artist Trudy Tran is a standout feature, celebrating Savannah’s rich history and culture. It showcases iconic local sites such as Hunter Army Airfield, Poetter Hall at the Savannah College of Art & Design, and the Savannah Music Festival.
As part of the store’s reopening, Walmart announced its support for the local community through grants to various organizations. Beneficiaries of these grants include the Humane Society for Greater Savannah and Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, reflecting Walmart’s commitment to community engagement and support.
The Savannah Supercenter is not the only Walmart location in the region undergoing renovations. Stores at 10530 Abercorn St., 1955 East Montgomery St., and 160 Pooler Parkway in Pooler, GA, are also set for remodeling. This initiative is part of a broader plan by Walmart to enhance customer experiences in its retail locations.
Looking ahead, Walmart has announced plans to remodel more than 650 stores across the United States by 2025, including 20 locations in Georgia. This follows a significant investment of over $1.1 billion focused on upgrading its stores in the state over the past five years. Currently, Walmart operates 209 retail units and 13 supply chain facilities in Georgia, employing over 65,000 associates.
Walmart’s remodel of the Savannah Supercenter marks a significant investment in improving customer experience and community support. With exciting updates and ongoing renovations at multiple locations, Walmart continues to emphasize its commitment to serving local communities in Georgia.
