Savannah GA Sports — Every Game, Live — Page 12

Chatham hosts a deep sports ecosystem in the Coastal Georgia / Lowcountry Georgia corridor, spanning 8 high schools. The seasonal calendar runs from the first Friday night kickoff of August through a late-spring finale. Fall drives football and volleyball under Georgia High School Association governance; winter shifts to hardwood basketball and wrestling; spring delivers baseball, softball, soccer, track, and tennis. Few Coastal Georgia / Lowcountry counties match the density of competition nights per week, the breadth of classifications in play, or the decades of local rivalry that fill bleachers every season.

The local prep schools include Jenkins High School (Warriors), Beach High School (Bulldogs), Groves High School (Rebels), Islands High School (Sharks), Windsor Forest High School (Knights), New Hampstead High School (Phoenix), Savannah High School (Blue Jackets), Benedictine Military School (Cadets).

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) classifies county schools across multiple competitive tiers, each with its own playoff bracket and state-title path. Friday Night Football anchors fall culture: lights burn on multiple county fields simultaneously, and local rivalries draw regional attention each October. Recruiting and NIL activity continue to reshape decisions at every county program.

HERESavannah covers every layer of Savannah sports: GHSA varsity scores and playoff brackets, college game previews and standings, pro team results and recruiting and NIL news from every local program. We track the Friday night scoreboard from one end of Chatham to the other, the coaching changes that reshape programs, and the student-athletes making their case for the next level. If it happens on a Savannah field, court, diamond, or fairway — it’s HERE.
