Character

Midtown is a mosaic of postwar bungalows, brick ranches, and small apartment buildings built from the 1940s through the 1960s, interspersed with commercial nodes along Victory Drive's palm-lined median and Waters Avenue's historically Black-owned business corridor. The area offers some of Savannah's most affordable close-in housing while retaining walkable access to Daffin Park's lake, tennis courts, and the Savannah Bananas' home stadium.

History

Midtown grew as Savannah's population expanded south of the Historic District following World War II, with Victory Drive developed as a memorial boulevard to World War I veterans and planted with its signature palm median. Historic Grayson Stadium, built in 1926 and renovated in 1941, has hosted minor league baseball and now the Savannah Bananas' Banana Ball franchise.
